A workbench for brick models written as code. A JavaScript program places parts with .part(), .at() and named connectors, and every run compiles it into a 3D model with build steps, a parts bag and a list of rule checks.

  • Snap by connectors: studs, anti-studs, Technic holes, axles and wheel hubs connect by name. Build-time loops (repeat(), each()) unroll walls and turn pixel art into tiles; components with ports compose into bigger models.
  • Live params: sliders, switches and angles in the Params tab, and runtime lambdas driven by a clock (▶) that turn turrets, swing a cobot arm or make a robot dog trot.
  • Rules: built-in checks for overlap, stud jams, connectivity and joint compatibility, plus your own rules. Click a violation to light up its parts.
  • Instructions: a planner groups parts into numbered steps with callouts and per-step cameras. Page through them, or look at the Exploded and Bag views.
  • Bags and remixes: check a model against an inventory, or let a generator grow a new machine from the same bag, one per seed, and scrub every collapse in the Solver tab.
  • Export: LDraw MPD with one step per instruction step (for LDCad, Stud.io or BrickLink Studio), a parts list, a text outline of the instructions, or the program.

It comes with thirteen lessons and examples, from Hello brick to an artillery cart, a rules lab with broken parts and a microscale lab with six workstations, plus nine detailed fixtures: a pick-to-light display, a stack light, a compressor, a label printer, a handheld scanner, a digital caliper, a six-joint cobot, a quadruped robot and a step ladder.

Brickwork is an independent project, not affiliated with or endorsed by the LEGO Group or the makers of the products modelled in the fixtures. Part numbers follow the LDraw library conventions.
